From researcher to full-time atlas practitioner
Wim van den Berg trained as a clinical psychologist (the Dutch title drs. denotes a university master's degree) and spent his career as a researcher into the effects of Transcendental Meditation, a field he has worked in for 50 years. In 2009 he completed the training as an Atlasprof, joining the second group of Dutch practitioners licensed in the Swiss atlas correction method. He began performing corrections two afternoons a week alongside his research work. Word of mouth from clients turned it into a full-time practice within a few years.
Certified trainer under René Schümperli
In 2011 René Schümperli, the Swiss founder of the method for safely treating the upper cervical area, certified Wim as a trainer. He is one of only six people in the world to whom Schümperli entrusted that role. It reflects both his technical precision and his understanding of the whole person: as a psychologist he sees every client as a unique expression of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects in relation to their environment.
Atlas Zone Therapy
In 2019 Wim joined the Atlas Zone method founded by Dr. Matthew Voigts, a British doctor of osteopathy. Together they re-screened and further developed the original atlas method. The result, Atlas Zone Therapy, is practised in the Netherlands under Wim's name and is now available in Malaysia and Singapore. Over 15 years he has helped more than 10,000 clients. Many are referred by doctors, naturopaths and therapists.

Taking the atlas into science
Frustrated that the little research on atlas misalignment was unpublished or inaccessible, Wim approached Professor Aart Nederveen, Professor of Applied MR Physics at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, University of Amsterdam (AMC-UvA). Together they initiated a scientific study into the possible misalignment of the atlas and its consequences. Atlas Zone Therapy is the only atlas treatment method being studied at Amsterdam UMC. The study is supported by the Foundation for Research into the Atlas Zone, which Wim helped establish so that people with atlas-related problems can be diagnosed and helped sooner.
Beyond the practice
Wim is a board member of the ProTerra Foundation and is closely involved in safe food for people and animals. His practice supports two charities where it can. He also offers coaching conversations to clients who want to look at the mental and emotional side of their complaints, drawing on his background as a clinical psychologist.
Why Malaysia and Singapore
Atlas correction is well established in Europe but almost unknown in Southeast Asia. Wim's aim is simple: make a safe, gentle, one-session correction available to people in Malaysia and Singapore who have exhausted the usual routes for their complaints. Consultations are held in Kuala Lumpur on scheduled dates. Enquire about the next dates.
